January is SNAP Outreach Month for the state of Minnesota, as declared by Governor Mark Dayton.  Only 65% of eligible Minnesotans are enrolled in SNAP.  SNAP can help low-income individuals and families access healthy food.  There's more info in the DHS news release here.  What are some ways that we can support increased enrollment in SNAP among those eligible for the program?

A great example: The below PSA, developed by Senator Franken.

Is there a healthy corner stores program in Minnesota? It is important to make sure that even small neighborhood stores in our communities have fresh food to buy with SNAP. In my neighborhood, we have a small grocery store that does have some fresh food and accepts SNAP.

A portion of Minnesotans shop at shops in Tribal Reservations and Communities. If Tribes do not have access to SNAP benefits, these people will be excluded from the program by nature of location.
